Sustainable Solution on Bratislava

Today the train took us to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Although the initial intention of interviewing the mastermind behind the only road in Europe paved with recycled cigarette butts didn’t materialize, we were given the opportunity to learn about this innovative project. We also had time to explore the city and Sad Janka Kráľa Park, founded between 1774 and 1776 and the oldest public park in Central Europe, located on the banks of the Danube River. This vast green space is a sanctuary for residents and tourists alike, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. From an early age, Bratislava’s residents recognized the need to integrate green structures and spaces into their land use planning to create a more ecologically sound city and foster places of social, physical, and emotional well-being. The park is an example of how a community can foster sustainable territories.
